Copper prices gained on Wednesday as a planned labour strike at the world's biggest copper mine in Chile threatened already low global supplies of the metal.
Gold prices scaled a more than four-month peak on Tuesday, as the dollar and U.S. Treasury yields slipped amid expectations that the U.S. Federal Reserve will keep its monetary policy accommodative.

The dollar turned up against major currencies for the first time this week as U.S. yields held steady and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand surprised markets by hinting at a future interest rate hike.
